Plasma and Corona Surface Treatment

Surface Preparation, Priming and Pre-treatment For Modern Manufacturing

If you’re new to world of plasma and corona, Ebble Manufacturing might not make much sense.

What is Plasma Surface Treatment? How can Corona Discharge treaters help? What do these surface treatments do?

The quick explanation is that these treatment systems prepare and prime a material surface to improve adhesion. This is usually adhesion of printing inks, adhesives, tapes or coatings but can be a wide range of problems. The technologies can clean materials to give a useful surface, and they also change the chemistry of the surface to enhance adhesion.

Ebble Manufacturing began life supporting customers of sister company Tantec UK who manufacture and supply Plasma and Corona treatment equipment.

But it’s become more than a trials partner to Tantec, instead now Ebble Manufacturing often works with customers for who it doesn’t quite make sense to buy and operate their own systems and instead prefer to work directly with us to get the best support they can.

Using Ebble Manufacturing as a subcontract manufacturing partner allows you to use our extensive and modern Plasma and Corona treatment systems as well as work with us to enhance your product with bonding and assembly, printing, coating or tape application.

We also find our contract facility is an excellent back up for emergency or overflow manufacturing for those who use treatment systems already.

What’s Available At Ebble Manufacturing?

Ebble Manufacturing has a focus on surface treatments, it’s our specialist skill and the core of our manufacturing. At our facility here in Redditch, Worcestershire, just 10min from the M42 you’ll find multiple Vacuum Plasma systems, Atmospheric Plasma treaters and a variety of Corona treatment systems ready to go.

This variety of systems allows us to treat almost any shape, size and type of material. From 3D injection moulded components to metal sheets and web materials.

Using our quality lab we also check surface energy and the quality of the surface to ensure your material works as expected with the  treatments.

Alongside surface treatments we assemble, bond, print, coat or apply tapes and labels. Enhancing the treatment and your product so it’s received back to you exactly how you want it.

Is Ebble manufacturing right for you?

There is a wide range of problems that surface treatment can potentially help with, most commonly improving adhesion and repeatability of liquid bonding on to a material. This is often an adhesive on to a low surface energy plastic like polypropylene, or it could be a printing ink on to a medical device like a syringe.

Either way, we look at the project with you to work out if plasma and corona are sensible solutions to help, as well as finding out if subcontract or buying the equipment yourself is the right way to go.

One of our key strengths as a business is the range of solutions on offer. You can work with us for small single components without significant investment and you can use that knowledge to specify and develop a process that’s right for you as production grows. Or you can use us for the life of the product as a trusted partner.
